VLA 1.3 cm Images of the Radio Jets of XTE J1748-288

The images show the radio counterpart of XTE J1748-288 on August 9 and 14, 1998 (MJD 51034 & 51039). The core is on the far left and the approaching jet is on the right, with the end-point in these images slowing down and brightening, presumably because of jet-shock interaction with slower material.

Radio and X-ray Light Curves for the 1998 outburst of XTE J1748-288. The time of jet ejection related to the initial flaring events was identified by extrapolating the first VLA image sequence back to when the ejecta would have been on the core.
